Mobile PhoneInsuring Your Mobile Phone

If you intend to buy a top of the range mobile phone you’ll quickly realise that this type of technology doesn’t come cheap. The latest mobile phone handsets can set you back £300 or more! Of course, if you sign up for a contract mobile phone, the network will usually give you one of these hi-tech mobile phones at a substantial discount – possibly even free. This is all well and good, but if your mobile phone gets lost, damaged or stolen, you’ll be looking at a huge bill to replace it.

With this in mind, most mobile phone providers offer insurance against loss, damage or theft (as an extra cost option). Some mobile phone companies might throw in a free insurance deal for the first couple of months, so it’s definitely worth shopping around for the best contract mobile phone deals.

Also remember that your mobile phone may be covered by your home contents insurance or you may be able to add your mobile phone as a specified item - call your insurance provider and see! Additionally, there are some third party insurance policies available specifically to cover mobile phones. If you shop around you may be able to get a similar level of cover for a lot less than most mobile phone companies may charge.

You can, of course, choose not to insure your mobile phone at all. This is worth considering if you have an older or cheaper phone, but having a mobile phone lost or stolen is inconvenient enough without having to find the money to replace your handset as well.
