HSBC Go Green
Thursday 31st May 2007 HSBC has announced a new initiative this week in which they will dedicate £50 million to tackling the global problem of climate change.
The bank which is the second largest in the UK has pledged to donate the money to charities and environmental groups and will work in partnership with them for the next 5 years to protect rivers and help cities tackle the effects of environmental change.
HSBC will be working with The Climate Group, The Earthwatch Institute, The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), and WWF and HSBC Chairman Stephen Green believes that "By working with four of the world's most respected environmental organisations, we [HSBC] believe we can tackle the causes and impacts of climate change,"
As well as teaming up with these orgainisations HBBC has launched an internal campaign to create "a green taskforce" to ensure that all workers are educated on the threat of climate change.
