Growing a collection

When you start collecting you'll have to spend some time working out where you can pick up the pieces you want. Good places to try are:

  • Second hand shops
  • Auctions
  • Searching the internet
  • Specialist shops
  • Newspaper adverts
  • Antique shops

Collecting Silver

Silver is one of the most popular things to collect, and you can find lots of reasonably priced interesting silver online. Your collection will fit together well if you select one or more of the following:

  • Era
  • Maker
  • Types of object (i.e. cutlery, tankards)
  • Plain everyday silver, or ornamental/decorative.

Other popular items for collection include antiques, furniture, stamps, rare butterflies, rare books, dvds, porcelain figures, china, comic books and coins.
